Welcome to our resort, the Melia Cabo Real, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!!!!!
Let's give you the grand tour -- here is the beautiful roof of the lobby -- a pyramid covered with translucent marble
This is the lobby bar -- where at night, we enjoyed bingo, karaoke, and dancing to live music...
...as well as chasing after Priya! She ran from the bar over and over to come hug this hideous stone dog (maybe she missed Sherlock really badly?)
A view of the lobby pyramid from the resort grounds, which included this desertscape
Our beautiful pool...
...which included a fantastic swim-up bar! Yes, Shefali spent many hours here, trying all sorts of new drinks and discovered a delicious concoction called "Miami Vice," which is a swirl of pina colada and strawberry daiquiri
Our appropriately-themed room
And look at this photograph we took from our room's patio: the cabanas! the ocean! the palm trees!
Another shot of the pool, the swim-up bar, the fountains, and the lobby pyramid off in the distance
A view of the beach on the Sea of Cortes
Having dinner at the resort's fancy restaurant, La Terraza, which served scrumptious steak and Italian food
Today we are taking a glass-bottom boat tour around El Arco, a fantastic rock formation at the southernmost tip of Baja California
Dan and Priya are enjoying the beautiful (but HOT!) weather
Here's Pelican Rock, which is home to a small flock of pelicans
And this lone pelican has created his own "Pelican Rock"
It was neat to see the fish through this glass bottom, especially the large yellowtail (underneath the silver-colored fish)
Here's the famous Playa del Amor or Lover's Beach on the Sea of Cortes (on the other side is Divorce Beach on the Pacific Ocean, where it's very dangerous to swim)
This rock, called Neptune's Finger, resembles an upside-down Baja California emerging from the water
Finally, we have arrived at the Arch!
The water is such a magnificent shade of blue
Look closely -- El Arco looks like a dinosaur drinking from the water!
Here's Seal Rock where according to our guide, the seals are sleeping off a tequila hangover!
This seal suddenly looks up and notices a boatful of humans staring at him!
One last shot of the Arch as we sail away....
It's Mexican night at the Melia Cabo Real......first up, all the kids, including Priya, get to hit the pinata!
Then we head over to the theatre for a mariachi band performance
Priya appears to enjoying the music very much!
Next up are the beautiful Mexican folk dancers
A folk singer wows the crowd
All of the amazing performers take a final bow
Two of the activities coordinators dress in accordance with the night's theme and take a photo with Priya (Luisa [on the left] was Priya's favorite person at the whole resort!)
It's time to go swimming!!!
Down on the beach on the Sea of Cortes...
...but Priya was frightened of the crashing waves and wouldn't let Daddy put her feet down in the water
Relaxing under the thatched umbrella (away from those scary waves, thank God!)
The kiddie pool is MUCH more fun!
"Mama, when are you going to put down the camera and come join us in the pool????"
Luisa babysat Priya for us one night, as we headed into town to enjoy a Sunset Cruise on this big boat
Shefali on deck enjoys the spectacular views
Here's the Arch at sunset
These two performed a jaw-dropping Argentine tango...
...while these two did both a Mexican folk dance...
...and an ridiculously fast and intricate drumming routine!
Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue
Shefali poses with the host of this fantastic after dinner performance
After the Sunset Cruise, it's time to hit the clubs...first we went to Hard Rock...
...and then to the famous Squid Roe...
...where Dan partook of an insanely humongous margarita!
Finally we ended up at the Zoo, a fun hip-hop club with corresponding decor. Why didn't we go to Cabo Wabo, you ask? Because we happened to be in Cabo during Sammy Hagar's birthday week when he himself performs every night and people camp out all night for tickets!! (We decided we would rather sleep in a bed)
Priya reads a book as Dan works furiously, writing the postcards that no one ever received (thanks to the ever-so-reliable Mexican postal system)
Our last meal at El Quetzal, the resort buffet, where Priya flirted regularly with all of the waiters
On our way out, Priya hugs her favorite stone dog one last time....we're coming home soon, Sherlock!
