Here is our beautiful invitation to the wedding. (In case you were wondering, the invitations we mailed did NOT have the rings attached.)
This is the excruciatingly detailed program of the ceremony/reception that Shefali only spent a few hundred hours writing. (To see the entire program, head over to the Wedding page.)
Here is our ketubah, a Jewish marriage contract, that we signed in a small private ceremony prior to the wedding.
Shefali's brother, Dwijen, begins the processional.
Here comes the matron of honor, Urmila.
Dan is dragged down the aisle - kicking and screaming - by his parents.
Dwijen and the pandit (a Hindu priest) welcome the groom.
Shefali peeks around the door, desperately trying not to miss her cue to finally walk down the aisle.
The wide-angle shot of the Atrium, with us under the huppah/mandap.
The bride and groom exchange flower garlands.
The pandit ties Shefali and Dan together prior to circling the fire.
Dwijen hands Shefali offerings for the fire.
The bride and groom circle the fire four times, hoping not to be accidentally engulfed in flames.
Dan applies sindoor, a red powder, to Shefali's forehead, which now indicates her status as a wife.
The couple smiles after Dan places the mangal sutra or wedding necklace (similar to the American wedding band) on Shefali.
Urmila and Mike, matron of honor and best man, join Shefali and Dan under the huppah before the rabbis for the Jewish ceremony.
Rings are exchanged.
The big kiss!
The newlyweds are overflowing with happiness after the ceremonies are finished and the recessional begins.
